Make It count in Waltham Forest
PROJECT SUMMARY
This project 'Make It Count' is for young unemployed people in Waltham Forest who want to Make It Happen! It is being delivered from February 2011 by the community enterprise - Raise Your Game. The project consists of the following:
One to One Life Coaching
The project will provide life coaching for 12 people, aged 16-25 who are not in education, employment or training. The individual will work with a professional life coach for six sessions of approximately 45 minutes. The venues can be arranged in convenient locations across Waltham Forest such as community centres. After making initial contact the young person will be sent a short application form to be completed and brought to the first session. Any travel costs will be reimbursed to the participant.
Skills Development Workshops
The workshops will be open up to 20 people. These are scheduled to start once the coaching is underway. There will be two motivational workshops to keep up positive thinking and focus and two job skills training to help perfect interviewing techniques, overcome nerves and create a good impression. Those who complete all the coaching and workshops will receive a Development Programme certificate from the Institute of Leadership and Management.
Inspired Talks
The idea behind this series of three workshops is for the young participants to identify who they consider successful in the community (from any industry) so as to invite them to an informal Questions and Answers event. The participants can gain advice from personal success stories highlighting how others overcame any barriers to get themselves where they are today.
Youth News
Some of the young participants from the coaching and workshops will put together a short newsletter packed with interesting stories and useful information for other young people who are job hunting. It can draw on the Inspired Talks sessions, personal stories and give tips on how to make it happen!
